Soul Cat Guitars Ukes and AmpsCongratulations on owning a Soul Cat Cigar Box Guitar! CB guitars are a tradition that goes right back to the Civil War, and it’s a great way to get that raw blues sound or any other sound that moves your heart. -These are wooden boxes covered by paper coated with 6-7 coats of lacquer. Moderate soap and water to clean although I would not recommend soaking in water. Try to keep in a dry climate.Although these are made with loving care and are of high quality, they are not fine musical instruments and have a certain amount of... for lack of a better word... “funk” built into them. I personally believe that's what gives them their mojo.......But if you’re looking for perfection in an instrument you should start at the $5000 mark and there are many, I can refer you to. But if it’s fun and a great time you’re looking for in a high-quality instrument…. You’ve come to the right place.
Ukes are now by special order at a price of $400. 4 week delivery.Your instrument’s pickups. -The Soul Boy Slim 4 strings come with a mini-Humbucker pickup made by Foundry Tone that gives it that rocking blues tone, clean blues, or clean sound ( Also called clean, Dirty and Filthy.)
Your choice.-The Soul Cat 6-strings come with a single coil or Mini Humbucker pickup by Foundry-Tone I think they sound surprisingly good, and I hope you do too.-The neck of your instrument is maple, as maple is an incredibly strong, hard, beautiful wood that stays consistently straight, and it's finished with 2-6 coats of lacquer with a satin finish. The 6 strings have a truss rod and the 4 strings do not. Though their nexts can easily be straightened.
All the boxes are made of wood and get 2-6 coats of nitro-cellulose lacquer The fretboards are Rosewood or Wenge and finished with Fret oil. The fretboard markers are Mother of Pearl, and the side markers are bamboo or white resin. Fancy huh?You can find demonstration videos on my website: www.soulcatguitar.com I have one for the ukes coming up.Every guitar comes with a copperhead finger slide. To play “Slide” guitar on a 4 string, it helps to start it with your guitar tunes to: G D G B. Or to remember: Good Dogs Get Bones. This makes it tuned to a “G” chord. On a 6 string, It helps to tune to an open key. To find out which key you’d like, go to You tube and there are many videos on this. Now when you use the slide, you get that sound you’ve been looking for. Check out YouTube for lessons as there are many. S -An electronic ‘Chromatic’ tuner is a great investment, and you can findthem online for $10-$20.-I’ve set the string height at .090ths (Or lower is some cases) as it seems to be the height that not only makes for easy fingering but also leaves the guitar without any buzzes. I intonate the bridges on my 6-strings but they may need tweaking after shipping. I’ve found that most guitar companies do not guarantee their string height as many consider it a personal preference. I’m a musician, and I set the string height so the guitar is easy and fun to play and I’ve found that if you go lower than .070ths at the 12th fret, you start getting buzzes in weird places So that’s where I put the strings when I ship. You’re welcome to play with the string height to your heart’s content or have your local technician adjust them. Please note: I set up the 4 strings differently from the 6 strings. I set the 4’s action just a bit higher for slide though the 6’s can be heightened for slide easily. The 6 can be a wonderful slide guitar with a new set up and the adjustable bridge makes it a snap to adjust whatever key you choose.I buy my string in bulk and the gauges are what were available at the time. Usually .32 * .24 * .17 * .13 or very close. The six strings come with a set of Super Slinky .009* for Blues bending. I get my strings in 4 packs through “Just Strings” and fpr the 4 string packs I use CB Gitty, an online CBG supplier.-
If, for some reason, anything ever happens to your instrument, I offer a limited Two Year guarantee, which covers defects in workmanship. **I cannot control how your guitar is stored, used, heated or cooled, how it is taken to different parts of the world with different humidity’s, and temperature and etc..etc.. and for this reason I can’t be responsible for the unsupported necks (without truss rods). That is why I use Maple, it’s a consistently stable wood and I’ve had little trouble with warpage, and with only 4 strings, the tension usually isn’t great enough to cause warping, but for the reasons I’ve stated, I just can’t guarantee it. Having said that, if you ever have trouble with a neck, please get a hold of me and we will work something out.
If anything, ever happens to the cigar box of your instrument, it can be replaced relatively easy for a modest fee, depending on availability. All in all, I strive to have happy, satisfied customers who get great enjoyment out of their Soul Cat Instruments. And I will work hard to make sure you are happy and satisfied.-Please feel free to contact me, Dean Moller, with any questions at:206-783-6852 Or write me at: soulcatguitar@gmail.comThanks for buying a Soul Cat....I hope you have a blast with it........
